A night of glamor took an unforgettable turn when a surprise acceptance speech brought the audience to their feet. A beloved comedian took to the mic, paying an emotional tribute to an extraordinary actress. Seth Rogen‘s heartfelt words honored Catherine O’Hara‘s Best Actress win as he accepted the award on the late star’s behalf.
Catherine O’Hara gets tribute after winning Best Actress in a Comedy Series
Catherine O’Hara was honored with a heartfelt posthumous win at the 2026 Actor Awards, having received the award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance in The Studio. In her absence, show co-creator Seth Rogen stepped forward to accept the award, paying warm tribute to the phenomenal actress she was.
Rogen humbly accepted the award on her behalf, saying she’d have been “honored” to receive it from her “fellow performers who…she respected so much.” He also reflected on his time with the Schitt’s Creek star, praising her generosity, kindness, and self-assuredness. “She knew she could destroy, and she wanted to destroy every day on set,” Rogen said, highlighting her incredible talent and work ethic.
The Neighbors actor ended his acceptance speech with a heartfelt recommendation. He urged people to share O’Hara’s iconic moments with the new generation. He suggested showing them her iconic dance to Harry Belafonte in Beetlejuice or her hilarious hobble in Best in Show.
“We were lucky that we got to live in a world where she so generally shared her talents with us,” he said. The audience was visibly moved by Rogen’s words, with many in tears as they applauded wildly.
Rogen’s emotional tribute to the Home Alone actress has fans celebrating her timeless legacy, as seen in Netflix’s X (formerly Twitter) post. “She came, she saw, she destroyed. Legendary,” wrote an X user. “Some heartbroken faces in the audience,” highlighted another. “She’s so loved and respected by so many in the audience I can’t,” commented a fan.
Notably, O’Hara passed away at 71 due to a pulmonary embolism on January 30, 2026.
