After confirmation that a sequel to Brad Pitt‘s F1 is in development, new information has surfaced regarding the direction of the story. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has hinted that early discussions are already underway, offering the first concrete update on the next installment.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has confirmed that conversations are underway with Lewis Hamilton about potential storylines for a sequel to F1. Hamilton, who served as a producer and creative consultant on the original film, is being consulted as new ideas are developed for the next installment.

Speaking at The Hollywood Reporter’s Nominees Night on February 10, Bruckheimer hinted that work on the follow up has already begun. “We’re working on the story. It’s really good,” he told PEOPLE.

He added that the team is presenting concepts directly to Hamilton for his perspective. “We’re talking to Lewis Hamilton. We’re getting it going through him and pitching him the ideas and see what he thinks.”

When asked whether leading cast members such as Brad Pitt might return, Bruckheimer declined to provide specifics. The producer stated, “We’ll see. I’m not going to tell you yet.”

The first film, directed by Joseph Kosinski and written by Ehren Kruger, was released in June 2025. It starred Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a former Formula One star whose career was derailed by a serious crash in the 1990s. Decades later, Hayes is drawn back into the sport by his former teammate Rubén Cervantes, now the owner of a struggling team.

The film achieved significant commercial success, earning more than $630 million worldwide. It also secured four 2026 Academy Award nominations. Critical and audience reception was strong, with an 82 percent critics rating and a 97 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
