Peacock’s raunchy comedy Ted is returning for Season 2 next month. The show continues to follow the early life of John Bennett and the titular character, a living teddy bear. Seth MacFarlane returns as the showrunner and the voice behind the sentient being.
Ted Season 2 hits Peacock next month
Ted Season 2 is releasing on Thursday, March 5, on Peacock. The studio made the announcement on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption, “Worth it. A new season of #ted arrives March 5 on Peacock.”
The show is a Peacock exclusive and premiered on January 11, 2024. It comprised seven episodes, all of which dropped on the same day. The upcoming season will feature eight episodes.
The show stars Max Burkholder as the 16-year-old John Bennett and Seth MacFarlane as the voice behind the titular character. The cast also features Alanna Ubach, Scott Grimes, and Giorgia Whigham, among others, in prominent roles.
Following in the footsteps of the movies it is based on, the show has received a favorable reception from both critics and audiences. It currently holds a 74% Tomatometer score and 90% Popcornmeter score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The show reportedly became Peacock’s most-watched original show within the first three days of its premiere, per Collider. In December 2025, the studio announced a sequel (via Deadline).
It serves as a prequel series for the highly popular buddy comedy movies of the same name. The original, Ted, was released in 2012, and the sequel, Ted 2, followed in 2015. Despite their adult humor, the movies performed well during their respective theatrical releases. Collectively, they made over $773 million at the box office.
MacFarlane helmed both movies from a script he co-wrote with Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild. Interestingly, he wanted the series to be a sequel to Ted 2. But due to the busy schedule of Mark Wahlberg, who played the adult version of John Bennett in the movies, the Family Guy voice actor said that making a prequel became the “logical step.”
However, in May 2025, Peacock reportedly announced that Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried, and Jessica Barth will reprise their roles in an animated sequel.
