The release date estimate for Scream 8 is a big talking subject among fans of the franchise. The latest installment in the iconic slasher franchise, Scream 7, recently arrived in cinemas, and many fans are already looking forward to the next part. Since the new movie redirected the series back to its original cast, it evoked nostalgia for long-time fans. Furthermore, given how it ended, many are curious whether an eighth movie is in development.

Without further ado, here’s what we know so far about Scream 8’s release date estimate, news, and updates.

What is the Scream 8 release date estimate?

The release date estimate for Scream 8 is sometime between 2028 and 2029. This is based on the average gap between the last three movies in the series.

Scream 5 was released on January 14, 2022, followed by Scream 6 on March 10, 2023, and Scream 7 on February 27, 2026. So, based on that calculation, the next one could arrive sometime between 2028 and 2029, if greenlit.

Currently, there is no official information about Scream 8. However, Kevin Williamson, Scream 7’s director and the series creator, told Variety that they have “a lot of ideas” for the next movie. “If this film is successful and there’s an audience for it, you know we’ll make it,” he added.

Moreover, according to Variety’s source, the plans for the eighth film are “already in place.” So, if the news were to materialize, then fans of the franchise could expect at least one more film in the franchise. Nevertheless, it is important to note that plans are subject to change based on Scream 7’s overall theatrical performance.

As of writing, Scream 7 is close to earning $100 million at the global box office, less than a week after its release (via Box Office Mojo). Thus, if the trend continues to grow, it is highly likely that the studio will eventually make Scream 8.

If greenlit, Scream 8 could include Neve Campbell, Isabel May, Jasmin Savoy Brown, David Arquette, and Courteney Cox, among others.
