Scream 7 currently has the worst Rotten Tomatoes score in the horror movie franchise’s history.
Paramount Pictures’ Scream 7 is releasing in United States theaters this weekend. Directed by Kevin Williamson, the movie sees Neve Campbell reprise her role as Sidney Prescott, while the cast also includes Isabel May as Tatum Evans, Jasmin Savoy Brown as Mindy Meeks-Martin, Mason Gooding as Chad Meeks-Martin, Courtney Cox as Gale Weathers, and Joel McHale as Mark Evans.
What is Scream 7’s Rotten Tomatoes score?
With the review embargo for Scream 7 now lifted, the movie currently has a 43 percent Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes with 40 reviews. This makes it the franchise’s worst Rotten Tomatoes score, as the original Scream has a 78 percent score, Scream 2 has an 83, Scream 3 has a 45, Scream 4 has a 61, 2022’s Scream has a 76, and Scream VI has 77.
ComingSoon’s Jonathan Sim gave the movie a 6/10 score, which equates to “Decent.” Sim wrote in his review, “This is a pretty decent entry into this franchise. There are issues here and there, and it’s one of the weaker films in the series, but it manages to pull off everything you’d expect from a Scream movie. Scream 7 marks a return to the ways of old for the franchise. After Scream (2022) and Scream VI put a greater focus on Sam Carpenter (Melissa Barrera) and her sister Tara (Jenna Ortega) as the new leads, their departure from this series alongside formerly-attached director Christopher Landon forced a rewrite that put Sidney back as the face of this series.”
The official synopsis for Scream 7 reads, “When a new Ghostface killer emerges in the quiet town where Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) has built a new life, her darkest fears are realized as her daughter (Isabel May) becomes the next target. Determined to protect her family, Sidney must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all.”
