The Netflix streaming release date for Russell Crowe’s 2025 historical drama is set for later this week. Based on a true story, it follows a U.S. psychiatrist who evaluated the mental health of 22 top Nazi leaders, including Hitler’s second-in-command Hermann Göring, awaiting trial at Nuremberg after World War II.

Nuremberg begins streaming on Netflix soon

Nuremberg’s Netflix streaming release date is Saturday, March 7, 2026.

The film is based on Jack El-Hai’s 2013 book The Nazi and the Psychiatrist. It details the real-life experiences of the U.S. Army psychiatrist Dr. Douglas M. Kelley. He investigated Hermann Göring and other Nazi leaders during the Nuremberg trials.

As his evaluation deepened, Douglas formed a complex bond with Hermann, while the prosecutors built a case against the Nazi’s for their horrifying war crimes that they committed during World War II. At the end of his participation in the trials, Douglas documented his experience in the 1947 book 22 Cells in Nuremberg.

James Vanderbilt directed, co-produced, and wrote the film’s screenplay. Interestingly, he incorporated dialogues drawn directly from the actual trial transcripts. He also included six minutes of the 52-minute film, featuring real-life footage from death camps.

Nuremberg’s cast features Russell Crowe as Hermann Göring, Rami Malek as Douglas Kelley, Leo Woodall as Howie Triest, John Slattery as Burton C. Andrus, Mark O’Brien as John Amen, Michael Shannon as Robert H. Jackson, and Colin Hanks as Gustave Gilbert, among others.

Nuremberg premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, 2025. It later arrived in cinemas worldwide starting on November 7, 2025. It received a lukewarm reception, resulting in global earnings of roughly $43.2 million (via Box Office Mojo).

However, both critics and audiences praised the film for its authentic adaptation and the cast’s performances. On review-aggregator sites like Rotten Tomatoes, it has a 72% Tomatometer score from 194 critics and 95% Popcornmeter score from over 1,000 users. On IMDb, it has a rating of 7.4 stars from over 65,000 users.
