The ‘Burbs reboot series to stream on Peacock next month
The ‘Burbs reboot series, based on the 1989 movie featuring Tom Hanks, is all set to stream on Peacock.
The release date set for the reboot to air on the network is February 8, 2026, according to a report by Deadline. Peacock greenlit the series in September 2024, and its trailer was unveiled a few days ago.
According to Variety, the logline, as shared by Peacock, states that the events will be set in present-day suburbia. The story will revolve around a young couple whose life takes a turn when their new neighbors shift to the locality, “bringing old secrets and new deadly threats shatter the illusion of their quiet little neighborhood.”
The ‘Burbs features Keke Palmer and Jack Whitehall in the lead roles. However, their roles will differ from Hanks and Fisher’s characters in the movie. Meanwhile, the supporting cast includes Paula Pell, Kapil Talwalkar, and Julia Duffy. Celeste Hughey is the creator of the series, whereas Brian Grazer, Seth McFarlane, and Dana Olsen are the executive producers.
Notably, Olsen also served as the writer for the original movie. The 1989 classic, made on a reported budget of $18 million, was a financial success. According to Box Office Mojo, it made around $36.6 million at the domestic market. Moreover, The ‘Burbs earned $12.5 million at the international market. This took the Tom Hanks movie’s lifetime collection close to $49.1 million.
