Caught Stealing, the R-rated crime thriller led by Austin Butler, has made a strong debut on Netflix. The film, which recently became available for streaming, is drawing significant attention from viewers. It has already secured a place in Netflix’s U.S. Top 10 chart, suggesting growing traction on the service.
Caught Stealing ranks seventh in Netflix Top 10 chart for December first week
Netflix’s latest update to its “Top 10 Movies in the United States overview” list shows Caught Stealing securing the seventh spot for the first week of December. The ranking follows the film’s streaming launch on November 29 in the U.S., where it has begun to gain traction after its theatrical release earlier this year.
Caught Stealing, which runs 1 hour and 47 minutes, adapts Charlie Huston’s 2004 crime novel of the same name. It follows Hank Thompson, once a promising high-school baseball player whose athletic future collapsed after an injury. Now working as a bartender in New York City, Hank leads a stable life with his girlfriend, Yvonne. However, his routine is disrupted when his neighbor, Russ, asks him to watch his apartment and take care of his cat.
The seemingly harmless favor quickly spirals into a dangerous situation when Hank becomes entangled with a group of aggressive gangsters. The story follows his efforts to escape the conflict while navigating the chaos around him.
Austin Butler leads the cast as Hank Thompson, with Matt Smith portraying Russ Miner. Zoë Kravitz appears as Yvonne, Regina King as Detective Elise Roman, and Liev Schreiber as Lipa Drucker.
The film was originally released in U.S. theaters on August 29, 2025, before arriving on Netflix to reach a wider audience. It has been met with a favorable critical reception, receiving strong scores from reviewers. Moreover, Caught Stealing currently holds an 84% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
