Three acclaimed fantasy adventure movies from DreamWorks Animation have just officially been added to Peacock‘s library. This comes after the iconic animated franchise recently received a live-action adaptation from Universal Pictures, 15 years after the first installment was first released in theaters.
What are the new fantasy movies available on Peacock today?
Beginning today, 2010’s How to Train Your Dragon, 2014’s How to Train Your Dragon 2, and 2019’s How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World are now finally available to stream on Peacock. All three fantasy animated movies have Certified Fresh scores on Rotten Tomatoes, with the first installment receiving a near-perfect Tomatometer rating. The award-winning franchise was based on Cressida Cowell’s bestselling book series of the same name.
The How to Train Your Dragon animated franchise was written and directed by Dean DeBlois, who also recently helmed the 2025 live-action version of the first installment. The voice cast included Jay Baruchel as Hiccup, America Ferrera as Astrid, Gerard Butler as Stoick, Craig Ferguson as Gobber the Belch, Jonah Hill as Snotlout, Christopher Mintz-Plasse as Fishlegs, Kristen Wiig as Ruffnut, T.J. Miller as Tuffnut, Cate Blanchett as Valka, Kit Harington as Eret, Djimon Hounsou as Drago, and more.
“This film rolls fire-breathing action, epic adventure, and big laughs into a captivating, fun, and original story. Hiccup is a young Viking who defies tradition and befriends one of his deadliest foes – a ferocious dragon he calls Toothless. Together, the unlikely heroes fight against the odds to save both their worlds in this wonderful, feel-good hit,” reads the synopsis for the first installment.
Due to the commercial and critical success of the live-action How to Train Your Dragon remake, Universal Pictures has already started the development of its sequel, which is now slated to arrive in theaters on June 11, 2027. The ensemble cast was led by The Black Phone’s Mason Thames and The Last of Us’s Nico Parker, with Butler reprising his character. During its theatrical run, it grossed over $636 million at the global box office.
