Following the Paramount-Skydance merger, three movies have officially been scrapped under the new regime at Paramount Pictures, which is now led by co-CEOs Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein. Before the merger, Brian Robbins served as the co-CEO of Paramount Global since 2021.
What are the canceled Paramount Pictures movies?
According to THR, Miles Teller’s romantic sports drama movie Winter Games has already been canceled. The project was first revealed back in April, with Paul Downs Colaizzo attached to direct. The story was supposed to take place during the Winter Olympic Games. It would have followed the story of a perpetually overlooked skier and a self-sabotaging hockey legend who collide at their breaking points.
In addition, the outlet also confirmed that the Ferris Bueller’s Day Off spin-off titled Victor and Sam’s Day Off, and Colin Trevorrow’s Area 51 movie have also been scrapped by the new management. The Ferris Bueller spin-off would have followed the own adventure of the two valets who borrowed the Ferrari of Cameron’s father from the 1986 movie. David Katzenberg was initially enlisted to helm the movie, which would have been his feature-length directorial debut.
Meanwhile, the Jurassic World director’s untitled Area 51 movie would have been produced by Ryan Reynolds through his Maximum Effort banner. Written by Thomas and William Wheeler, the story was supposed to take place in the late 1980s, following a Las Vegas TV journalist who broke the story of Area 51. The conspiracy thriller movie was first reported back in May.
