Netflix’s live-action One Piece series has officially moved into production for Season 3, bringing with it major casting updates and new story details. Recent announcements reveal returning characters, cast promotions, and new additions set to join the next chapter. These developments come as anticipation builds ahead of the Season 2 premiere.
What are the One Piece Season 3 updates?
Production for One Piece Season 3 began on November 24, 2025, in Cape Town, South Africa, according to Netflix’s official announcement on Tudum and Deadline.
The Straw Hat members returning to the show include Iñaki Godoy (Monkey D. Luffy), Jacob Romero (Usopp), Mackenyu (Zoro), Taz Skylar (Sanji), and Emily Rudd (Nami). Charithra Chandran returns as Miss Wednesday. Joe Manganiello (Mr. 0), Sendhil Ramamurthy (Nefartari Cobra), Lera Abova (Miss All Sunday), and Mikaela Hoover (Chopper) return from Season 2 and now serve as series regulars. Xolo Maridueña has been cast as Portgas D. Ace, and Cole Escola appears as Bon Clay.
Ashley Wigfield wrote the Season 3 premiere episode titled “Where There’s Smoke.” Christoph Schrewe directed the episode. The production team released a promotional image that shows a sheathed knife, a human skull, a Log Pose, and a script page arranged in a desert. The setting visually references the Alabasta Arc.
The story continues Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece manga. Season 3 adapts the Alabasta Arc, which concludes the Alabasta Saga. This Arc spans manga chapters 155 to 217.
Season 3 explores the Baroque Works storyline in more detail. The series introduced this thread at the end of Season 1 and expanded it in Season 2. Netflix plans to release Season 2, titled One Piece: Into the Grand Line, on March 10, 2026.
Netflix produces the series in collaboration with Tomorrow Studios and Shueisha. Executive producers include Eiichiro Oda, Matt Owens, Joe Tracz, Ian Stokes, Marty Adelstein, and Becky Clements.
