To promote the new Lego Batman game, DC and Warner Bros. Games recently released a short clip recreating an iconic scene from Tim Burton’s Batman movie released in 1989. Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, launching later this year, has significant anticipation surrounding it, primarily due to its incorporation of various elements from Batman lore and the character’s mythos in its gameplay and story.
Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight recreates iconic scene
DC and Warner Bros. Games shared a short cinematic titled “The Joker, Clown Prince of the Museum.” The majority of the clip is a 1:1 recreation of the famous scene from 1989’s Batman, where Jack Nicholson‘s Joker and his goons vandalize Gotham City’s museum while jamming to the late, famed musician Prince’s song “Partyman.”
However, this clip is different from the original scene. The former ends with Joker and his goons escaping through a closing gate while Batman and Catwoman enter the museum, trying to figure out what happened.
Meanwhile, the latter first shows the museum’s guests, except Vicki Vale, getting knocked out by Joker’s gas before he vandalizes the museum. After vandalizing the museum, the Clown Prince of Crime and his henchmen approach Vale.
They threaten her life, trying to find Batman. Vale throws some water on Joker’s face in an attempt to defend herself, but before he can retaliate, Batman steps in to rescue her.
Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will release on May 29, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via the Epic Games and Steam stores). It will also arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2 at a later, yet-to-be-announced date. The Nintendo Switch 2 version can be wish-listed now.
Pre-orders for the game are now live. Those who pre-order all editions will receive The Dark Knight Returns bat-suit at launch. Meanwhile, those who pre-order the Deluxe Edition will be entitled to a three-day early launch access.
Moreover, those who have a Warner Bros. Games account and those who create it can unlock the Golden Age batsuit at launch. This batsuit is based on Batman’s appearance in his debut comic, Detective Comics #27 (1939).
