What happens in the Mortal Kombat II trailer?
The Mortal Kombat II trailer offers some new footage of beloved character Johnny Cage, who is being played in this movie by Karl Urban. Josh Lawson reprises his role as Kano in the film, while the cast further includes Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Tati Gabrielle as Jade, Damon Herriman as Quan Chi, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi / Scorpion, and more.
The official synopsis for the movie reads, “From New Line Cinema comes the latest high-stakes installment in the blockbuster video game franchise in all its brutal glory, Mortal Kombat II. This time, the fan favorite champions—now joined by Johnny Cage himself—are pitted against one another in the ultimate, no-holds-barred, gory battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn that threatens the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders.”
Todd Garner, James Wan, Toby Emmerich, E. Bennett Walsh, and McQuoid produce the movie, while Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Slater, and Lawrence Kasanoff serve as executive producers.
Mortal Kombat II arrives on May 8, 2026. The 2021 Mortal Kombat movie, meanwhile, is currently available to stream on HBO Max and The Roku Channel. A third movie is also in development, though not much is known about that project as of yet.
