Apple TV has officially released the first Widow’s Bay teaser trailer, previewing the upcoming horror comedy about a mysterious small town with a dark secret starring Matthew Rhys. The show is set to premiere on Apple TV on April 29, 2026.
“’Widow’s Bay’ is a quaint island town 40-miles off the coast of New England. But something lurks beneath the surface. Mayor Tom Loftis (Matthew Rhys) is desperate to revive his struggling community. There’s no wifi, spotty cellular reception, and he must contend with superstitious old locals who believe their island is cursed. He wants these people to respect him. They don’t. They think he is soft and cowardly. And he is. But Loftis is determined to build a better future for his teenage son and turn the island into a tourist destination. Miraculously, Loftis succeeds: tourists are finally coming. Unfortunately, the locals were right. After decades of calm, the old stories that seemed too ludicrous to be true start happening again,” reads the show’s official synopsis.

What happens in the Widow’s Bay teaser trailer?
The teaser trailer for Widow’s Bay doesn’t reveal a whole lot, but does do a great job throwing us right into the mystery behind the small town. The trailer sees someone arriving in the town of Widow’s Bay and meeting with Mayor Tom Loftis (Rhys). When asking about the town and its dark past, Loftis tries to downplay it, but as clips show, it seems the town of Widow’s Bay has a very scary past and present.
Alongside Rhys, the cast of Widow’s Bay is also led by Kate O’Flynn, Stephen Root, Kingston Rumi Southwick, Kevin Carroll and Dale Dickey. The supporting cast includes K Callan and Emmy Award-winning Jeff Hiller.
The series is created, showrun, and executive produced by Katie Dippold. Hiro Murai is also attached to the project as a director and executive producer, and directs the first five episodes of the show. Other directors on the show include Sam Donovan, Andrew DeYoung, and Ti West.
