Mark Wahlberg’s future in the Ted franchise has taken a notable step forward with a fresh update on the animated continuation. A new report sheds light on his involvement in the next chapter of the long-running comedy series.
Mark Wahlberg’s Ted return praised by Seth MacFarlane
Mark Wahlberg’s return to the Ted franchise has been praised by Seth MacFarlane as production continues on Ted: The Animated Series. During an interview with ScreenRant, MacFarlane confirmed Wahlberg will reprise his role as John Bennett. He said Wahlberg “just took to it like a duck to water” and added, “He was fantastic, and you instantly know that it’s him.”
Seth MacFarlane stated the animated sequel will pick up “directly” where the 2015 film Ted 2 ended and confirmed the return of Amanda Seyfried and Jessica Barth. He also announced new cast members Liz Richman and Kyle Mooney, describing the ensemble as “a great cast.” MacFarlane said co-creators Brad Walsh and Paul Corrigan are doing “a fantastic job of pulling together something very new” while remaining “very faithful to the Ted universe.”
“It’s a great show that I think, if people latch onto it, could go for a long time,” Seth MacFarlane said. He added, “It’s certainly less complex than producing a show with an animated CGI teddy bear on a weekly basis, which makes you feel like you’re doing a Marvel movie eight times a season.” He concluded, “I think people are going to like it.”
Ted: The Animated Series marks only the second voice acting role of Wahlberg’s career. He previously voiced Brian Crown/Blue Falcon in the 2022 animated film Scoob!. The franchise launched with Ted in 2012, followed by Ted 2 in 2015, before expanding with a live-action prequel series on Peacock.
Ted season 2 begins streaming on Peacock on March 5.
