A new report suggests that Madonna is set to take on her first live-action acting role in over two decades with a part in The Studio. The Apple TV+ series, which has earned a 92 percent score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, is currently filming its second season. Her alleged involvement has sparked significant anticipation among fans.
Report says Madonna will appear in Season 2 of The Studio
Madonna is reportedly set to feature in the second season of The Studio, according to Entertainment Weekly, though an official confirmation has not yet been issued. The development follows her appearance at the show’s filming location in Venice, where production is currently in progress.
Speculation around Madonna’s involvement began after she shared an image from Venice on social media, referencing a new project while holding a script. She was also seen on set alongside Seth Rogen and several members of the main cast, including Bryan Cranston, Ike Barinholtz, Chase Sui Wonders, and Kathryn Hahn. In addition, Michael Keaton and Julia Garner were also present during filming.
If confirmed, the role would mark Madonna’s first significant live-action acting appearance in over two decades. Her last major roles date back to 2002, when she starred in Swept Away and appeared in Die Another Day. Since then, her on-screen work has largely been limited to voice acting, including Arthur and the Invisibles.
Her return to Venice also revisits a location closely associated with her early career, as the city served as the backdrop for her 1984 music video for “Like a Virgin.” Beyond acting, Madonna has also been working on a feature film based on her life, a project she has developed with writers such as Diablo Cody and Erin Cressida Wilson. The film was previously in development at Universal Pictures before being removed from the studio’s slate, with work on the project resuming in 2024.
Production on Season 2 of The Studio recently resumed following the death of cast member Catherine O’Hara. As of now, Madonna’s involvement has not been formally announced. However, her presence on set has contributed to ongoing reports that she may appear in the upcoming season.
