The popular period comedy-drama series All Creatures Great and Small is officially returning for two more seasons at PBS Masterpiece. This comes more than a month after Season 6 concluded its six-episode run. Just like previous installments, the Season 6 conclusion will be followed by the release of the show’s yearly Christmas special on December 5, 2025.
All Creatures Great and Small is based on James Herriot’s beloved book series, which was inspired by his experiences as a veterinary surgeon. The TV adaptation is led by Samuel West as Siegfried Farnon, Anna Madeley as Mrs Audrey Hall, Nicholas Ralph as James Herriot, Callum Woodhouse as Tristan Farnon, and Rachel Shenton as Helen Alderson. Since its debut in 2020, the show has received a near-perfect Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
What did the PBS executives say about the All Creatures Great and Small renewal?
“All Creatures Great and Small has found its way into the hearts of American audiences and is one of our most-watched series,” PBS Masterpiece executive Susanne Simpson said in a statement (via Deadline). “I’m thrilled to bring more seasons of the warmth, hope, and humor that make this series so special.”
Channel 5 Commissioning Editor Greg Barnett added, “All Creatures Great and Small is a jewel in 5’s drama crown and continues to delight viewers year after year. Its warmth, humour and heart, set against the beauty of Yorkshire, have made it a firm audience favourite. We’re thrilled to extend its future with two more series, with many new stories still to tell and more unforgettable adventures ahead for our Skeldale family.”
Season 7 is executive-produced by Colin Callender, Melissa Gallant, and Sharon Moran for Playground, writer Neil Jones, Simpson for Masterpiece, Louise Pedersen and David Swetman for All3Media International, and Sebastian Cardwell, Paul Testar, and Barnett for 5. It will also be produced by Yvonne Francas. It is a production by Playground.
