Billy Bob Thornton is pushing back against rumors about his status on Landman. This comes after online reports suggested he would not return for the Paramount+ drama’s next season. With the series recently renewed for Season 3, the actor has now spoken out to clarify his involvement and address the claims that sparked confusion among viewers.
Billy Bob Thornton on rumors of leaving Landman Season 3
Billy Bob Thornton has directly addressed online claims suggesting he is exiting Paramount+’s drama series Landman. He dismissed the rumors, confirming that he will remain part of the show following its recent renewal for a third season.
Speaking to USA Today, Thornton criticized the viral posts fueling the speculation, calling them “AI-generated crap.” He also denied rumors linking him romantically to costar Demi Moore. “There’s an AI report that Demi and I are a couple now, and there’s one that I’m leaving the show. They have nothing to do with reality,” the actor said.
The rumors surfaced shortly after Landman’s Season 2 finale ended with a major storyline shift. In the episode, Thornton’s character, oil executive Tommy Norris, is fired from M-Tex Oil by Cami Miller, portrayed by Demi Moore. Despite the dramatic turn, Thornton emphasized that the plot development does not hint his exit from the series. “I’ll be there,” he said.
The actor further expressed enthusiasm for the show’s future. Thornton noted, “It’s been great working with Sam. And I love doing the show. I’ll be here as long as it plays out. If it’s five years, great. If it’s six, I’m there.” He even earned a Golden Globe nomination for his performance in the first season of Landman.
Created by Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace, Landman explores the power struggles and personal fallout within the modern oil industry. Season 2 concluded on January 18 and is currently streaming on Paramount+.
