Jason Statham’s Shelter box office isn’t as good as last two movies

Jason Statham’s latest action thriller, Shelter, opened domestically with $5,505,000 across 2,726 theaters, ranking number 5 among movies playing during its release weekend. The worldwide total after its first weekend stands at $13,005,000, with $7.5 million from international markets and 42.3% of revenue coming from domestic audiences.

According to Box Office Mojo, the film had a production budget of $50 million. Its limited opening compared to the budget indicates a challenging path to profitability. On its first three days, it earned $1,901,000 on Friday, $2,188,000 on Saturday (up 15.1%), and $1,416,000 on Sunday (down 35.3%).

Jason Statham’s previous two action thrillers opened stronger and earned significantly more at the box office. A Working Man opened with $15 million and grossed $89 million worldwide on a $40 million budget. The Beekeeper opened with $16 million and ultimately grossed $162 million globally, also on a $40 million budget.

Shelter carried a larger production budget but delivered a weaker opening weekend. It opened domestically with $5,505,000, nearly three times lower than The Beekeeper and A Working Man, making it unlikely to match their financial success.

Black Bear released Shelter on January 30, 2026. The film runs for 1 hour and 47 minutes, carries an R rating, and follows a recluse on a remote Scottish island who rescues a girl from the sea, triggering events that force him to confront his past.

As of its opening weekend, Shelter has earned $13,005,000 worldwide. It brought in $7.5 million from international markets and $5.5 million from domestic markets. The film’s earnings fall short of its $50 million production budget.
