An action film starring Jason Statham and Sylvester Stallone that had an underwhelming theatrical run has found a new audience on streaming. As a result of strong viewership, The Expendables 4 has secured a top spot in Netflix‘s top 10 movies list.
The Expendables 4 is a hit on Netflix
As of February 25, 2026, The Expendables 4, starring Jason Statham and Sylvester Stallone, is the #2 movie on Netflix’s top 10 movies list in the United States, according to FlixPatrol.
The film is currently surpassed by only The Addams Family, which holds the #1 spot. However, it beats Joe’s College Road Trip (#3), Fall (#4), The Addams Family 2 (#5), The Orphans (#6), Firebreak (#7), KPop Demon Hunters (#8), PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie (#9), and The Secret Life of Pets (#10).
Until recently, the film was the #3 movie on the Netflix top 10 list in the United States, surpassed by Fall (#2) and Joe’s College Road Trip (#1) (via Netflix Tudum). Moreover, it was previously in the #8 position globally.
Following its release in 2023, the sequel flopped at the box office, grossing $51 million worldwide. The film became the lowest-grossing installment of the franchise. Here are the estimated global box office grosses of the previous three movies:
- The Expendables (2010) – $274.4 million
- The Expendables 2 (2012) – $314.4 million
- The Expendables 3 (2014) – $214.4 million
Like the previous films, the fourth movie’s story follows the titular team of mercenaries. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds a critical score of 14%, and on Metacritic, it holds a Metascore of 30. However, it has a more robust audience score on Rotten Tomatoes of 69% and a “mixed or average” user score of 4.6 on Metacritic.
Scott Waugh helmed the film from a script by Kurt Wimmer, Tad Daggerhart, and Max Adams. In addition to Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham, the film features 50 Cent, Megan Fox, Dolph Lundgren, Tony Jaa, and Iko Uwais. Rounding out the cast are Andy Garcia, Randy Couture, Jacob Scipio, and Levy Tran.
