In her extensive filmography, Jamie Lee Curtis seems particularly appalled by one film, which she claims the entire cast did just for money. Curtis singled out Fierce Creatures, a spiritual sequel to one of her most defining films, as a film that she is not a fan of at all.
Jamie Lee Curtis talks about Fierce Creatures
During an appearance at the South by Southwest festival to promote her new film, Sender, Jamie Lee Curtis, who has decades worth of great filmography in her resume, singled out one particular film that she did not like at all.
During her talk, Curtis called her 1997 film Fierce Creatures “a piece of sh**.”
“I was shooting that piece of s—, Fish Called Wanda Two. We were on the back lot. It was awful. We all did it for money,” the 67-year-old actress said (via PEOPLE).
Fierce Creatures was a spiritual sequel to Curtis’s defining crime comedy, A Fish Called Wanda. While A Fish Called Wanda was hailed as a masterpiece of its genre and remains a cult favorite film even now, its spiritual sequel, which featured the same primary cast, did not enjoy a similar fanfare.
A Fish Called Wanda was released in 1988 and followed Wanda, a con artist who double-crosses her lovers. The film featured excellent performances from John Cleese, Kevin Kline, and Michael Palin.
In 1997, Fierce Creatures reunited this star-studded cast for another film along similar lines. But it did not end up being as good. Initially, the ending was disappointing, which led to a series of reshoots, but still, the final product did not live up to its predecessor.
Jamie Lee Curtis remains active in the industry now and is soon set to appear in Sender, a new thriller from Russell Goldman. The film had its world premiere in competition at SXSW on March 14, 2026, and has yet to get a theatrical release date.
