As The Boys head into Season 5, the balance of power has shifted in a way that changes everything. Homelander isn’t just the most dangerous supe anymore; he’s in control. But that doesn’t mean he’s untouchable. In fact, the biggest enemy may already be right by his side.
Who is Homelander’s biggest enemy in The Boys Season 5?
By the end of Season 4, Homelander (Antony Starr) has reached a level of authority he’s always craved. He controls Vought, has influence over the U.S. government through President Steven Calhoun, and commands a growing force of supes who now operate with legal backing. The Boys, once his biggest problem, are now being hunted.
But this rise didn’t happen by chance. Sister Sage, played by Susan Heyward, is the architect behind much of his success. Her intelligence and ability to stay several steps ahead have made her indispensable and potentially dangerous. Despite working together, Sister Sage is shaping up to be the real Homelander enemy in The Boys Season 5. What sets her apart isn’t strength or powers; it’s her mindset. She isn’t afraid of him, according to Heyward.
In a conversation with ScreenRant, Heyward stated, “Well, I think one of the fun things about playing Sister Sage is the lack of fear for Homelander. Of course, the mortal desire to stay alive is in there somewhere, but when we find her at the beginning of season four, she’s kind of signed off of life.” She added, “She’s kind of signed off of risk… and has nothing to lose. She’s finally in the game of power. And she has absolutely nothing to lose.”
Unlike Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) or the rest of the Boys, Sister Sage does not rely on brute force. As Susan Heyward explained why Sister Sage could become Homelander’s biggest enemy. “Worst comes to work, he lasers her head. Okay. I really do think part of her calm heartbeat is knowing that she has a plan and knowing what she wants and knowing that she’s already gone farther than anyone else would’ve given her the opportunity to.”
Further, she aptly put it, “So let’s see what happens.” The Boys Season 5 is set to hit screens on April 8.
