Hayden Christensen famously portrayed Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Despite his involvement in those movies, Christensen’s favorite Star Wars movies come from a different era.
What Star Wars movies are Hayden Christensen’s favorites?
While speaking at Fan Expo Chicago, Christensen revealed which Star Wars movies he likes best. Christensen shared two picks: one from the original trilogy and one from the recent run of movies in the 2010s.
“I was always a big Empire fan,” Christensen said, a reference to The Empire Strikes Back. “And from some of the more recent films, I loved Rogue One. I thought that, for me, really kind of captured the essence of what Star Wars is meant to be.”
Christensen cited the depiction of Darth Vader as the main reason for his praise of Rogue One.
“I loved how they portrayed Darth Vader in that film, too,” Christensen added. “There are so many different people that have contributed to this character, and I’m just one of them. And I loved what they did.”
Christensen first appeared as Anakin in 2002’s Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones. Christensen replaced Jake Lloyd, who played a younger version of the character in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. After Attack of the Clones, Christensen reprised his role for Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.
16 years later, Christensen returned in the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi. In the season finale, Christensen’s Darth Vader squares off against Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan, with the latter getting the better of his former padawan.
One year after Obi-Wan Kenobi, Christensen appeared in another Star Wars Disney+ show, Ahsoka. In the series, Anakin confronts his former Jedi apprentice, Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson). Christensen will return for Ahsoka Season 2, which currently has no release date.
