Viewers are curious to know whether Amazon Prime Video has renewed or canceled Cross Season 3. Developed by Ben Watkins, the series is adapted from James Patterson’s novel series called Alex Cross. It centers on a decorated Washington, D.C., homicide detective and forensic psychologist who possesses a unique ability to understand a killer’s mindset. When he comes across a murderer, he teams up with his partner to track him down. Along the way, a threat from the detective’s past reemerges, forcing him to deal with both personal and professional problems.
With Season 2 having ended recently, many viewers are eager to know whether another season is on the horizon.
Has Prime Video canceled Cross or renewed it for Season 3?
Amazon Prime Video has neither renewed nor canceled Cross Season 3.
Generally, a series renewal depends on multiple factors, which include viewership, ratings, audience reception, financial viability, completion rate, and more. If the series manages to meet the desired expectations, then a renewal can be expected.
Cross Season 2, which debuted with three episodes, hit 613 million minutes during the week, TheWrap reported, citing Nielsen. Additionally, it also received 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from critics. Given the positive response, there are strong chances of it being renewed. However, fans will still have to wait for an official announcement from the makers.
In a 2024 conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, creator Watkins revealed his vision for the series. He said, “I already had a four-year plan. We want this thing to go for 10 seasons, but in my head, I had already made a four-year plan, and it’s based on some things that I want to do to mine and pay homage to the characters that are in the Alex Cross book series.”
Expressing what he wants from continuing these non-original stories, he explained, “Even though I’m doing new stories, I want at some point for there to be a dovetail between these characters, so I’ve been planting these seeds.”
While an official confirmation is awaited, this offers hope that fans might get more seasons.
But until an official announcement is made, fans can catch up on all seasons of Cross on Amazon Prime Video.
