Harrison Ford has once again reflected on the possibility of retiring from acting, and touched on which gig could be his last. He revealed that Apple TV’s Shrinking could be the project that brings his acting career to a close. Speaking at a recent press event for the series, the veteran A-lister praised the show and the people behind it, sparking new conversation about his future.
Harrison Ford would be happy to retire after Shrinking
Harrison Ford has suggested that he would feel satisfied if his career were to conclude with Apple TV’s Shrinking, even as the acclaimed series continues to expand with new seasons. The actor shared his thoughts during Apple TV’s inaugural press day event in Santa Monica. Moderator and executive producer Ashley Nicole Black asked the panel what the show had meant to them personally. This prompted Ford to reflect on how rewarding he has found the experience.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ford said, “Where do you go from here? The kind of work that we’re able to do is remarkable given the tools we have to work with, and the notion that lies behind this series.” The actor added that he would feel fulfilled if his career concluded with this role. “And if it was all over here, that would be sufficient,” he said.
He explained that the ideas behind the series have made the work especially meaningful. Ford explained, “This has been a different kind of job for me, and I’ve been doing this for a long time. This is very special, and it really nurtures me and makes me feel like what we’re doing has value and importance. I look for that in my life, and I’m happy to have found it here.” His comments drew loud applause from the attendees.
Ford also spoke about the responsibility he feels portraying a character living with Parkinson’s disease on the series, particularly after Michael J. Fox joined the current season. Fox, who will appear in 3 episodes, has lived with the illness since the early 1990s.
