Wondering what General Hospital’s schedule looks like on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day? Given the nature of how most shows take a break during the holidays, many fans are now wondering whether there will be new GH episodes later this week.

Here’s a breakdown of the show’s schedule.

Will General Hospital air new episodes on December 31 and January 1?

According to this week’s spoilers, General Hospital will be on a break on December 31, 2025, and January 1, 2026. A break like this is quite common among most TV series, as everyone takes the time off for the holidays.

So, what will air in its place? While there will be no new General Hospital episodes, the schedule reveals that ABC will be re-airing old ones. On December 31, 2025, an episode from December 27, 2024, will be aired.

This episode featured a lot of drama, including Michael fighting for custody of his kids with Nina, and Josslyn and Jason trying to solve Dex’s stabbing. Meanwhile, Sasha planned to move back to Hampton without telling others about her pregnancy. The episode also focused on Lulu finding and reuniting with Charlotte in Prague, while Valentine secretly watched them.

On January 1, 2026, the show will air an episode from July 27, 2015, which was the last episode that the late Anthony Geary appeared in as Luke Spencer. The actor had been part of the show since the early 1980s and has appeared in nearly two thousand episodes. However, he retired from acting in 2015.

In the farewell episode, Luke mends his relationship with his daughter, Lulu. He informs Sonny that he has decided to leave Port Charles permanently, ending his multi-decade-long time on the soap opera.

General Hospital will resume with new episodes from January 2, 2026. Sonny confronts Michael with some tough words, while Dante asks Justine to meet him. Meanwhile, Laura receives her new orders.
