A first look at Season 8 of Formula 1: Drive to Survive recently dropped and has increased the hype surrounding the British documentary series. The show first aired in March 2019 and focused on the 2018 Formula 1 World Championship. Season 8 will arrive on the streaming platform, Netflix, on Friday, February 27, 2026.
Formula 1 Season 8 first look video shows what’s coming
The first look at Formula 1: Drive to Survive Season 8 was shared by Netflix and gives fans a glimpse at the crash between McLaren teammates Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.
As per the YouTube teaser, the incident between the two happened during the Canadian Grand Prix of the F1 World Championship at Montreal, Canada. In the clip, Norris tries to go past Piastri. However, as soon as he makes the move, Norris hits the back of his car on the wall, which causes damage to his front wing and left tyre.
Following the crash, Norris is left stranded on the left side of the track and states in the radio message, “Sorry. All my bad. All my fault. Stupid from me.”
The caption of the first-video series reads, “In Formula 1’s 75th year, rookies surge forward, and a title-winning team faces turmoil as a three-way contest for the world championship grips the grid.”
According to ESPN, after the race, Norris told the reporters, “I should never have gone for it, it’s my complete hindsight thing. I thought he was starting to drift a little bit to the right, so there was an opportunity to go the left. Way too much risk, especially on my teammate. Happy nothing happened to him, and I paid the price for my mistake.”
Additionally, Season 8 of Formula 1: Drive to Survive will focus on the behind-the-scenes glimpse of the 2025 campaigns of the drivers in the 2025 F1 World Championship. Lando Norris won the championship by a lead of two points.
