Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 has received an exciting release date update.
Universal’s Five Nights at Freddy’s movie franchise began in 2023. That movie was followed by a sequel, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, that was released this past December.
While Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions have yet to officially announce that Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 is happening, it is expected to be in the works, as the second movie grossed approximately $239.6 million at the global box office. That’s just below the first movie, which grossed $297.2 million.
Many people involved with the Five Nights at Freddy’s movies have talked about a plan to make this series into a trilogy. For example, Matthew Lillard, who plays William Afton in the films, told ComingSoon last year that Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 will be “more William Afton vs. Mike.”
What is the update on Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 release date?
According to EmpireCity Box Office on Twitter, an official Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 announcement may be coming in the very near future.
The account reports, “Hearing that [Universal Pictures] and [Blumhouse Productions] [Jason Blum] have given @FNAFMovie3 the green light and will shoot this summer with a fall 2027 release date.”
Another comment from EmpireCity Box Office states, “Keep an eye on Oct. 15, 2027.”
No other details are available at this time. The October 15, 2027, release date for Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 is not yet official; however, if EmpireCity Box Office’s report is accurate, it likely won’t be long before Universal formally states concrete plans for the movie. There’s no casting information, yet, either, though it seems likely that, at the very least, Lillard and Josh Hutcherson will be returning.
Both Five Nights at Freddy’s and Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 are available to rent or purchase on digital outlets such as Prime Video, Apple TV, and more.
