Once again, Ben ran away with the victory after a strong performance where he had more than twice the score of his closest competitor’s. No one got the Final Jeopardy clue right tonight, which we expected given the niche topic of sailing history.
Ben had $22,500 and didn’t need to make a bet for the victory, but he still went ahead and risked $2,500. He couldn’t come up with an answer, so he left with $20,000, increasing his total winnings to $96,415.
With only $7,800, Sam couldn’t keep pace and lost a wagered $2,611 on his cheeky guess of the “RSS Rotting Hulk.” He finished in second with $5,189.
Shweta only had $1,000 and lost $680 on her answer of the “Titanic.” She left in third with $320.
Final Jeopardy Answer for May 2
The correct answer for Final Jeopardy on May 2, 2025 is “What is the America yacht?”
The yacht known as “America” was created in 1851 by various New York Yacht Club members and is best known for winning the very first America’s Cup. Despite starting the race with a fouled anchor, it caught up to the rest of the pack and won the race handedly by 18 minutes. The ship cost $30,000 to build at the time, which would be over $1 million today. It was eventually donated to the U.S. Naval Academy in 1921, but sadly it was not maintained and had signs of significant decay in 1940. It was finally scrapped and burned in 1945.
