To Catch a Killer, an underrated crime-thriller movie headlined by Divergent star Shailene Woodley, is one of many film and television titles leaving Netflix this month. It originally hit theaters two years ago on April 21, 2023, and subsequently experienced a limited theatrical run. Following its release, the film received mixed critical and audience reception.
To Catch a Killer is leaving Netflix this month
The Shailene Woodley crime thriller is reportedly bidding farewell to Netflix soon.
On February 19, 2026, To Catch a Killer will be exiting the streaming giant’s library. Thus, subscribers have 17 days to check out the film before it leaves the platform (via What’s on Netflix).
The film’s story, which takes place in Baltimore, revolves around a young cop, Eleanor Falco. A talented but troubled woman, she is recruited by an FBI Agent, Geoffrey Lammark, to profile and catch a vicious murderer on the loose. The FBI initially has a hard time apprehending the rather unpredictable killer until Falco’s disturbed psyche and unique persepective on his case helps them make great strides in their investigation and puts them one step closer to nabbing the criminal.
To Catch a Killer has pretty average scores on review aggregator websites. On Rotten Tomatoes, the crime thriller holds a 53% Tomatometer score but a decent 60% Popcornmenter score.
Meanwhile, Metacritic, which uses a weighted average to determine scores, has given the film a “mixed or average” Metascore of 43 and a user score of 5.4. It also reportedly grossed $3.1 million at the box office, per Box Office Mojo.
Damián Szifron, known for El fondo del mar, Tiempo de valientes, and Relatos salvajes, directed the film from his and Jonathan Wakeham’s screenplay. He also co-produced the movie with Stuart Manashil, Aaron Ryder, and Shailene Woodley. Notably, the film serves as the Argentine filmmaker’s English-language directorial debut.
In addition to Woodley, the film stars Ben Mendelsohn, Jovan Adepo, Ralph Ineson, Richard Zeman, and Rosemary Dunsmore, among others.
