Disney+ has renewed one of its upcoming Star Wars TV shows for a second season ahead of its series premiere.
What Star Wars TV show has been renewed by Disney+ for Season 2?
Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord has been renewed for a second season from Lucasfilm Animation. The news came from creator and executive producer Dave Filoni, who also became Lucasfilm‘s new co-president and chief creative officer after Kathleen Kennedy stepped down from the role.
The renewal announcement arrives days before Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord premieres on Disney+. The series follows Maul, the former Sith Lord, out for vengeance after the Clone Wars.
“Set after the events of The Clone Wars, Maul plots to rebuild his criminal syndicate on a planet untouched by the Empire,” the official synopsis reads. “There, he crosses paths with a disillusioned young Jedi Padawan, who could be the apprentice he is seeking, that will aid him in his relentless pursuit for revenge.”
The voice cast of Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord includes Sam Witwer as Maul, Gideon Adlon as Devon Izara, Wagner Moura as Brander Lawson, Richard Ayoade as Two-Boots, Dennis Haysbert as Master Eeko-Dio Daki, Chris Diamantopoulos as Looti Vario, Charlie Bushnell as Rylee Lawson, Vanessa Marshall as Rook Kast, David W. Collins as Spybot, A.J. LoCascio as Marrok, and Steve Blum as Icarus.
Filoni created Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord, based on George Lucas‘ Star Wars characters. Matt Michnovetz developed the animated series with Filoni. Executive producers include Filoni, Athena Yvette Portillo, Matt Michnovetz, Brad Rau, Carrie Beck, and Josh Rimes. Alex Spotswood is a co-executive producer.
In addition to his work on Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord, Filoni is a co-writer and producer on The Mandalorian and Grogu, which arrives in theaters on May 22, 2026.
Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord Season 1 premieres on Disney+ with two new episodes at 12 a.m. PT on April 6, 2026.
