Disney is back with yet another edition of its now iconic D23 Expo. The convention that takes place every two years in Anaheim, California, is back yet again, and promises to be packed with announcements, surprises, and more.
The conference, known as D23, has been going on for almost 20 years. From August 14-16, Disney will showcase a ton of new offerings it has planned for the future across companies like Disney Animation, Lucasfilm, Marvel, Pixar, 20th Century, and much more. If Disney owns it, you can expect to see it in some capacity at D23.
Things kick off with the Disney Entertainment Showcase tonight, which is set to include a litany of companies showing off new stuff. That’ll start at 7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET, and run for about two hours. ComingSoon will have all the updates on what Disney announces as it happens.

Frozen 3 closes out the show
In what is likely the final piece from tonight’s panel, Disney is closing out the show with Frozen 3, its highly anticipated third entry in the franchise. On stage are Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel, and preview a new song from the upcoming movie.
From the looks of the images shown, we’ll get to see Olaf find love, the wedding of Anna and Kristoff, and more. And with that, Disney’s panel comes to a close, in what was a significantly bigger event than I think anyone imagined! Have a great night, folks.
Hexed adds two new stars to its cast
Jodie Foster and Walton Goggins are here, and announce they’ve joined the cast of Hexed, Disney Animation’s next animated movie.
Kieran Culkin is starring in an all-new Disney Animation movie
After Zootopia 3, Disney Animation reveals that a brand-new animated movie, Clay, is coming to theaters in November 2028. The movie will star Kieran Culkin, and Disney showed off some concept art for the movie’s characters Clay and Mooshy.
Zootopia 3 is in the works
Disney Animation follows up Star Wars to talk about its next slate of movies. That includes a third Zootopia, which is currently in the works. It’s unclear when the movie is coming out, but it’s unsurprising given the absolute success both movies in the franchise have been.
Star Wars is here, and so is Star Wars: Starfighter
The first official teaser trailer for Star Wars: Starfighter has been shared at D23. In the first footage, we see some of Ryan Gosling’s character, as well as some scenes showcasing the beautiful vistas of Star Wars.
Starfighter is set to release on May 28, 2027, and will be one of the first Star Wars projects set after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
Ahsoka Season 2 trailer is here
Ahsoka Season 2, which is set to premiere on January 20, 2027, officially has a trailer. In it, Ahsoka and Anakin’s relationship is explored, as Ahsoka looks to continue going up against General Thrawn.
X-Men cast is revealed along with release date
After rumors had circulated for months, the X-Men cast was fully unveiled at D23 alongside a release date. The Jake Schreier-directed movie will release May 5, 2028, and will feature an absolutely star-studded cast, including:
- Sadie Sink as Jean Grey
- Kit Connor as Cyclops
- Christopher Abbott
- Samara Weaving as Emma Frost
- Inde Navarrette as Rogue
- Maya Boyd as Storm
- Adam Driver as Nathaniel Milbury/Mister Sinister
Avengers: Doomsday gets a brand new trailer
A brand new Avengers: Doomsday trailer is out now, and looks to be the footage that Marvel Studios showed off last month at SDCC. In it, we see even more of Doctor Doom, as well as the Avengers who are looking to stop him.
Marvel’s Wolverine gets brand new sizzle reel
VisionQuest trailer teases “final vision”
It’s officially time for Marvel Studios, and they kick things off with a new look at VisionQuest. The first official trailer for the show teases a brand new adventure for Paul Bettany’s character, as well as a new look at James Spader’s Ultron.
Oswald miniseries gets first look ahead of three-part series
A three-part miniseries about Oswald the rabbit is coming, and Disney has shown off a new look at it, highlighting a small Oswald exploring some items on a desk.
Greatest Showman medley celebrates upcoming musical
The Greatest Showman musical is coming to London’s West End next year, and in honor of it, a medley is being performed, complete with a huge dance number.
Ice Age: Boiling Point gets new details, character
It’s Ice Age: Boiling Point time, and some of the cast members including Denis Leary and Queen Latifah. While talking about the upcoming movie, Disney also shows off a new character, a different version of the iconic squirrel from the movies.

Camp Rock 3 gets new video
The Jonas Brothers are here, and with a brand new video for Camp Rock 3.
Percy Jackson Season 3 gets first details
Star Walker Scobell is here, and talking about Percy Jackson Season 3. He notes the “stakes are higher, the story is darker, and the Olympian council is finally complete.”
New Gatto footage shows off mob-themed cat movie
Romy and Michele 2 is coming
Lilo & Stitch is coming in 2028
Unsurprisingly, Lilo & Stitch 2 is coming soon. The movie was briefly teased here, with a May 2028 release date shown off. More surprisingly, Angel, a pink alien variant of Stitch that was in the animated series, was revealed to be in the movie.
New Pixar movie revealed
Pixar is keeping the surprises coming. The company announced a brand new movie, Ghost Market, arriving in Spring 2028. The new movie was introduced with a cute teaser, featuring one of the characters in the movie talking about it.
According to the video, the movie will be about “hungry ghosts,” and won’t be like other scary movies that leave you having nightmares for the rest of your life.
Kingdom Hearts 4 adds Coco-themed world, KH TV show coming to Disney+
In a surprise piece of news, Kingdom Hearts 4 is here! Disney announced that the game will be adding a new world themed around Coco and the Land of the Dead to the game.
On top of that, Disney also announced that a Kingdom Hearts television show was in the works. An “original anime series” will soon come to Disney channel and Disney+, with more information coming soon.
Coco 2 gets first official art
Coco 2 also made an appearance here! Pixar showed off the first official artwork for the movie, showing a much older Miguel wearing a white guitar.
The Incredibles 3 gets first details
Even though the movie isn’t out until 2028, Disney has shared some new info about The Incredibles 3. The movie will follow the children of the franchise as they try to prove to their parents they can become real superheroes in a world that now features the Super Hero League, a corporatized-version of heroes.
According to Disney, the villain of the movie will focus on the idea that not all superheroes are good people. The Parr family, Frozone, and Edna will all be back.
The Simpsons Movie sequel gets an official name
After undergoing a name change, The Simpsons Movie’s long-awaited sequel is here, now under the name The New Simpsons Movie. The movie is out next year, and Bart Simpson was on hand to talk about it a bit.
