As Citadel gears up for its highly anticipated Season 2, Priyanka Chopra Jonas is addressing the questions surrounding the franchise’s future. Speaking candidly about her role and the show’s trajectory, the actor clarified what’s confirmed, what remains uncertain, and how her ongoing partnership with Amazon is shaping what comes next.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas on what comes after Citadel Season 2
Following Citadel Season 2, Priyanka Chopra Jonas stated in an interview with Variety, “We have Season 2, for sure, but the rest? I have no idea.” Amazon has not confirmed plans beyond the second season, despite expanding the franchise with spinoffs like Citadel: Diana (Italy) and Citadel: Honey Bunny (India). Chopra Jonas added, “I don’t ask. I go to work, do my job and I leave.”
Chopra Jonas credits the Russo brothers for their role in her Citadel journey, recalling that Joe Russo “just dropped the script on text one day… and here we are four years later.” The show became Amazon’s second-most-watched new original outside the U.S. and its fourth-most-watched globally.
Next, Chopra Jonas will star in Varanasi, directed by S.S. Rajamouli, marking her return to Indian cinema. She said, “This is unlike anything I’ve ever done,” describing the project as a time-traveling epic and her first Telugu-language film in over a decade. The production has been ongoing for two years.
She requested Rajamouli include a dance number, stating, “I have to do a dance song… we haven’t shot it yet. OK, that’s one of the last things, which I’m really looking forward to.” She described a previously filmed sequence: “The choreography was crazy. It’s so intricate.”
She has also wrapped filming Judgment Day, an English-language comedy directed by Nicholas Stoller, co-starring Will Ferrell and Zac Efron. Chopra Jonas noted that comedy is a genre she wants to explore further.
Her role in The Bluff, releasing February 25, also reflects this range. Set in the 19th-century Caribbean, she plays a sword-wielding mother in a physically demanding role. The film was originally developed at Netflix but moved to Amazon MGM Studios, with Chopra Jonas replacing Zoe Saldaña, who remains an executive producer.
