Leslye Headland, showrunner of the canceled Star Wars series, The Acolyte, revealed how the show would have used fan-favorite character Yoda, had it continued. In a recent interview, she revealed that Season 2 would have explored a previously unknown aspect of the Jedi Grandmaster — his capability of dabbling within the dark side. Yoda makes a cameo appearance at the end of Season 1 when Jedi master Vernestra Rwoh visits him to consult him on something important.

Leslye Headland confirms that Star Wars: The Acolyte Season 2 would have shown Yoda’s dark side

The Russian Doll co-creator recently sat down for a conversation, where she addressed The Acolyte and various concepts and plot points tied to the series.

During the discussion on The George Lucas Talk Show, Patrick Cotnoir asked Leslye Headland if Yoda would help Vernestra Rwoh cover up some questionable actions of the Jedi Order in Season 2.

“For sure. Yeah,” Headland responded. This meant that Yoda would have shown his dark side by supporting Rwoh in blaming Sol — killed by Osha after he admitted to killing her mother — for Indara, Torbin, Kelnacca, Jecki, and Yord’s deaths. He would also support her in framing Sol as a rogue Jedi to protect the Jedi Council from the Galactic Senate’s scrutiny and investigation, and hide her former apprentice Qimir’s involvement after she confided the truth to him.

The veteran screenwriter added that Yoda does it in advance and told fans not to “come at [her] in the comments,” stressing that he acted this way in Clone Wars.

Notably, Leslye Headland’s claim about Yoda doing shady, questionable things typical of the dark side in Clone Wars holds some merit. Without thoroughly researching the mysterious Clone army — something that could have saved the Jedi Order from Palpatine’s annihilation of them through Order 66 — Yoda, along with other Jedi, carelessly took command of them and used them in various battles.

Moreover, Yoda and the other Jedi expelled Anakin Skywalker’s padawan, Ahsoka Tano, from the Jedi Order after fellow padawan Barriss Offee framed her for bombing a Jedi temple, neglecting to consider the possibility of Tano’s innocence.

However, after Offee was caught, proven guilty, and imprisoned, the Jedi tried to welcome her back, painting her entire ordeal as a test from the Force. Unfortunately, Ahsoka saw through this and left, having become disillusioned with Yoda and the Jedi.

Thus, had The Acolyte received another season, it could have potentially explored Yoda’s dark side.
