A canceled TV show that was previously airing on NBC has now been renewed by Fox for its ninth season.
Running Wild with Bear Grylls is a survival skills reality TV show that originally aired on NBC in 2014. It aired for four seasons at that network before it then moved to Nat Geo in 2019 for four more seasons, with the show being rebranded to Running Wild with Bear Grylls: The Challenge during Season 7.
What canceled NBC TV show has been renewed by Fox?
Per Variety, Running Wild with Bear Grylls is now moving to Fox for its ninth season. A premiere date has not yet been set, though this will mark the first new season of the show since 2023 when it does arrive.
“Running Wild with Bear Grylls combines epic adventure with intimate, human storytelling, which pairs perfectly with Fox’s premium unscripted slate,” Fox Television Network’s Michael Thorn said in a statement. “Bear has a rare ability to push people beyond their comfort zones in ways that are both visceral and emotionally revealing, and this new season raises the bar—from breathtaking locations to the remarkable guests joining him on these unforgettable journeys.”
The official description of the series reads, “Bear takes his guests on unforgettable adventures in breath-taking wilderness and reveals a side of some of your favorite people like you’ve never seen before. This season, Bear Grylls leads cast members on a globe-spanning adventure through some of the planet’s most unforgiving landscapes — from Norway’s glacial wilderness to the legendary mountains of Eryri in Wales. The journeys cut through Arctic rainforest, vast canyonlands, and brutal desert terrain, pushing participants to their limits with glacier crossings, canyon descents, high-risk extractions, and an adrenaline-charged freefall from 11,000 feet, into an adventure along the Irish Sea.”
Stars who will be featured in Running Wild Season 9 include Matthew McConaughey, Uma Thurman, and Colman Domingo. Robert Vanover is the showrunner.
