BAFTA nominee Callum Turner and Golden Globe nominee Margaret Qualley have reportedly entered negotiations to lead Paramount Pictures’ upcoming remake of the 1981 cult-classic horror movie. This comes more than a year after the Possession remake was first announced, with The Batman star Robert Pattinson initially attached to star.
What do we know about Callum Turner & Margaret Qualley’s Possession remake?
Paramount Pictures’ Possession remake will be directed by Parker Finn, who’s best known for creating the popular horror franchise Smile. Even though Pattinson’s casting was never confirmed, the Twilight vet is still attached as the project’s producer. Further details about Turner and Qualley’s characters are still under wraps.
The original movie was a psychological horror drama co-written and directed by the late Polish filmmaker Andrzej Żuławski. It starred Sam Neill as Mark and Isabelle Adjani as Anna, who are a married couple whose life changes after Anna suddenly leaves Mark due to an affair. Soon, Mark discovers that there’s a darker reason for their separation, as Anna begins to exhibit strange behavior. When the movie premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, Adjani won the Best Actress award. It currently holds an approval rating of 86% on Rotten Tomatoes.
“After Anna reveals to her husband, Mark, that she is having an affair, she leaves him and their son. Mark is devastated and seeks out Heinrich, the man who cuckolded him, only to receive a beating. After a series of violent confrontations between Mark and Anna, Mark hires a private investigator to follow her. Anna descends into madness, and it’s soon clear that she is hiding a much bigger secret — one that is both inexplicable and shocking,” reads the original movie’s synopsis.
Turner most recently starred in the A24 romantic comedy movie Eternity with Elizabeth Olsen and Miles Teller. He will next be seen in Universal Pictures’ romance movie One Night Only, which will arrive in theaters on August 7, 2026. Turner is also attached to star opposite Elle Fanning in the satirical thriller Rosebush Pruning. As for Qualley, she will next be seen starring alongside Glen Powell in the black comedy thriller How to Make a Killing. The acclaimed actress is also part of the cast of Ridley Scott’s newest sci-fi movie, The Dog Stars, which will be led by Jacob Elordi.
