An R-rated action thriller movie headlined by Ben Affleck is making its way to Hulu soon. The Accountant, originally released in 2016, is one of the numerous film and television titles dropping on Hulu next month. At the time of its release, the film received a mixed response from critics but a more positive reception from audiences. Notably, the film spawned a sequel, which arrived in 2025, while a third film is reportedly in development.
Ben Affleck-led The Accountant to stream on Hulu soon
The Accountant and its Spanish dub are reportedly arriving on Hulu on February 27, 2026. Also dropping on the same day are Kiss of the Spider-Woman — which interestingly was executive-produced by Affleck and stars his ex-wife Jennifer Lopez — and Spy x Family: Complete Season 3 (DUBBED).
Following its release in 2016, The Accountant reportedly grossed $155 million globally against a production budget of $44 million (via Box Office Mojo). This box office gross is comparatively higher than the film’s sequel, The Accountant 2, which reportedly managed to rake in only $103.2 million worldwide against an estimated budget of $80 million.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a rotten score of 53% and a relatively robust score of 77%. This is considerably lower than the scores held by the sequel, which has a critical score of certified fresh 75% and an impressive 92% audience score.
Meanwhile, on Metacritic, The Accountant has a “mixed or average” Metascore of 51 and a “generally favorable” user score of 7.3. On the other hand, the sequel has a “mixed or average” Metascore of 58 and a “generally favorable” user score of 6.3.
The Accountant follows Christian Wolff, an autistic certified public accountant and skilled martial artist, who sanitizes fraudulent financial and accounting records of criminal and terrorist groups. His activities draw the attention of Marybeth Medina, a young Treasury agent tasked by FinCEN’s Treasury Department director, Raymond King, to uncover his identity.
The Accountant was helmed by Gavin O’Connor from Bill Dubuque’s screenplay. Apart from Affleck, the film stars Anna Kendrick, J.K. Simmons, Jon Bernthal, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Jeffrey Tambor, and John Lithgow, among others.
