Ben Affleck recently put the spotlight on a fast-rising star who’s clearly catching Hollywood’s attention. While talking about his Netflix thriller The Rip, Affleck revealed that even Leonardo DiCaprio has been quietly singing Teyana Taylor’s praises.

While promoting The Rip, Affleck opened up about talking to fellow actors and filmmakers candidly, not on red carpets or press junkets, but in private conversations. One name came up again and again: Teyana Taylor. Affleck told Entertainment Weekly that when he bumped into DiCaprio, “he had nothing but incredible things to say” about Taylor.

Affleck noted that these were “informal conversations, not in front of a camera or anything,“ the kind where people don’t feel obliged to be diplomatic. Instead of lukewarm praise or polite remarks, DiCaprio’s comments stood out for their enthusiasm. Affleck said, “She’s really the opposite of that, and she blows people away,” conveying that Taylor’s talent makes a strong impression on even the most seasoned actors.

Affleck’s The Rip co-star Matt Damon also chimed in. Damon called Taylor “so professional, so great, just a really, really good person,” and reflected on her gifts beyond acting. He pointed out her Grammy nomination and the way she’s carved out a multifaceted career. “She’s clearly somebody with a lot to say and a lot to give. I mean, she’s nominated for a Grammy as well. She’s just so unbelievably talented with this kind of ambition to put herself out there in so many ways. It’s just great to see her acknowledged,” Damon said.

Teyana Taylor didn’t blow up overnight; she put in the work early. She got her first record deal at just 15 and never slowed down after that. Soon enough, she was running in elite circles, teaming up with Beyoncé, Jay-Z, and Kanye West, and even handling choreography for Beyoncé’s “Ring the Alarm” video. Acting-wise, she was featured in films like Stomp the Yard: Homecoming and Madea’s Big Happy Family. Come 2023, her standout role in A Thousand and One officially stamped her as one to watch in Hollywood.
