Anaconda is leaving Netflix next month
The original fan-favorite snake horror film is leaving Netflix soon.
According to a report by What’s On Netflix, Anaconda will exit the streaming platform on February 1, 2026.
Helmed by Luis Llosa, the cult classic was released in 1997. Featuring a stellar ensemble cast, the movie was made on a reported budget of $45 million.
According to a report by Box Office Mojo, Anaconda was quite a success financially. In the domestic market, the movie made around $65.8 million, and in the international market, Anaconda earned $71 million. This took the movie’s total collection to $136.8 million. On the other hand, it had an opening collection of $16 million.
Despite the moderate box office success, Anaconda wasn’t able to impress the critics and audiences. On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie got a low score of 41 percent on the Tomatometer, based on critic reviews. Moreover, on the Popcornmeter, the movie received a score of 24 percent, based on audience reviews.
Although the Rotten Tomatoes scores of Anaconda were not good initially, over the decades, the movie has earned a loyal fanbase. Recently, the original movie’s stars, Jennifer Lopez and Ice Cube, also made a cameo appearance in the 2025 reboot. The 2025 Anaconda features Paul Rudd and Jack Black as the leads.
Director Tom Gormican spoke to Variety in December 2025 about the original stars returning and said, “We were always thinking that it would be fun to have the surviving members. So we just kept reaching out.” Eventually, both actors gave their “stamp of approval.”
