Netflix subscribers will soon lose access to one of the platform’s popular young-adult franchises. The Maze Runner trilogy is scheduled to leave Netflix in early January, giving viewers a limited opportunity to revisit the science-fiction film series.
The Maze Runner trilogy is leaving Netflix next month
Netflix is set to remove The Maze Runner trilogy from its streaming catalog early next year. According to What’s on Netflix, all three films will exit the platform on January 9, 2026.
The Maze Runner trilogy, helmed by Wes Ball, is adapted from the popular dystopian science-fiction novels by James Dashner. The series launched with The Maze Runner in 2014, followed by Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials in 2015. The final installment, Maze Runner: The Death Cure, arrived in theaters in 2018.
The first film introduces a group of teenage boys who awaken in a mysterious enclosed environment known as the Glade, with no memory of their past lives. Led by Thomas, the group works together to survive a constantly shifting maze. However, the arrival of Teresa, the first girl to enter the Glade, changes everything.
In The Scorch Trials, the story moves beyond the maze as Thomas and the other survivors enter a ruined world outside. Their escape leads them across the Scorch, a harsh and unstable landscape populated by infected survivors, while the organization known as WCKD continues to pursue them.
In the final chapter, the stakes escalate further as the Gladers launch a dangerous mission into the Last City. Their goal is to rescue imprisoned allies and confront the forces responsible for the crisis.
The trilogy features an ensemble cast including Dylan O’Brien, Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Giancarlo Esposito, Walton Goggins, and others. The Maze Runner trilogy received mixed critical responses. The first film holds the strongest reception with a 66 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 172 reviews.
The trilogy collectively generated over $900 million worldwide at the box office (via Box Office Mojo).
