Marvel Studios surprised audiences during Super Bowl LX by skipping a teaser for Avengers: Doomsday. The studio ended its long run of using the championship broadcast to promote its flagship franchise. The absence marked the first time an Avengers film went without a Super Bowl spot, quickly drawing attention across social media.
Marvel creates history with no Avengers: Doomsday teaser at Super Bowl LX
Marvel Studios broke years of promotional tradition as Super Bowl LX did not feature any new footage from Avengers: Doomsday. The absence marked the first time an Avengers installment has gone without a Super Bowl advertisement. The move quickly drew attention given the studio’s history of using the event to launch major marketing campaigns.
In previous years, Marvel reliably used the game to introduce trailers related to its largest releases and frequently maintained a strong presence. However, that pattern shifted in 2026, when neither Avengers: Doomsday nor Spider Man: Brand New Day appeared during the broadcast. Sony’s absence was largely expected given the studio’s history with Super Bowl advertising, but Marvel’s own decision drew sharper reaction from fans.
However, the game featured a wave of high profile studio releases. Viewers saw new previews for Disclosure Day, Scream 7, Pixar’s Hoppers, and Project Hail Mary, while Netflix debuted footage from The Adventures of Cliff Booth. DC also unveiled a Supergirl trailer during Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl.
Although Avengers: Doomsday did not debut new preview or teaser during the broadcast, the studio has already released multiple trailers for the film. Those previews have highlighted major characters, including Steve Rogers, Thor, the Fantastic Four, the X Men, and Black Panther.
Set for a December release, the sequel is a major crossover chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is is expected to reunite an expansive cast that includes returning stars such as Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans.
