Capelight Pictures International has shared the official trailer for The Drift, the upcoming survival thriller drama led by Norwegian actress Thea Sofie Loch Næss (The Ugly Stepsister, Twilight of the Gods). The film will be available to rent or own on digital platforms in the U.S. starting on February 24, 2026.

“In the film, ice skating star Emily gets lost during a promotion event in the Arctic and finds herself alone on an ice floe. When the floe begins drifting south and melting, she must use every means necessary to survive,” reads the official synopsis.

What happens in The Drift trailer?

The video introduces a famous figure skater, who suddenly finds herself trapped alone on a drifting ice floe after filming a promotional video on a remote Arctic glacier. With only a backpack and a broken phone, she must find a way to survive the harsh, cold conditions. The trailer also offers a glimpse at some of the challenges she’ll be facing, including encountering a polar bear. The cast also includes Mavro Rodo star Nikos Koukas as Harry, Mimi Roivainen as young Anna, and Jasmin Simonen as young Emily.

The Drift is written and directed by Taavi Vartia (The Island of Secrets, Syke). The film is executive-produced by Antti Kaarlela and Andri Ómarsson, with Lilette Botasi, Aleksi Puranen, Joonas Vartia, and Dimitris Hatzivogiatzis. The creative team consists of cinematographer Nikos Karanikolas, editor Benjamin Mercer, production designer Katerina Zourari, and makeup designer Sotiria Malatesta.
