Following the intense cliffhanger that closed out Alien: Earth Season 1, an exciting update from the production team suggests that Season 2 is moving forward faster than anticipated, offering a clearer picture of the release date.

Alien: Earth Season 2 EP gives production update

After FX confirmed Alien: Earth Season 2 last year, the hit science fiction show’s executive producer, Dana Gonzales, gave fans an exciting update regarding the upcoming installment’s progress.

In a recent post on Instagram, Gonzales revealed a photo of a sign bearing one of the series’ iconic creatures alongside his name. The sign indicated that production was about to commence at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire.

The photo included a caption from the executive producer expressing his enthusiasm for the next chapter. Gonzales wrote, “Super excited to start the journey of @alienearthfx season 2. World building in the Alien universe birthplace.” He added that he was particularly happy to be filming in England, where Ridley Scott originally shot the first Alien movie in 1979.

This development strongly suggests that filming will begin imminently, potentially positioning Alien: Earth Season 2‘s release date window for next year, possibly in the first half of 2027. However, there is currently no official release date for Alien: Earth Season 2 at the time of this article’s publication.

Moreover, with production seemingly ready to roll at Pinewood Studios, the timeline is becoming clearer. The visual effects requirements for the show remain substantial, however. Although the first season got critical acclaim for its practical creature work, post-production demands for sound design and digital enhancement typically require many months to complete.

Among the uncertainties surrounding Alien: Earth Season 2 is which characters will survive the events of the first year’s finale. Sydney Chandler, who played the central role of Wendy, has acknowledged Gonzales’s production update.

With Gonzales confirming preparations and key creative talent locked in, the wait for more xenomorph action may finally be nearing its end.
