Jennifer Garner has given fans reason to be optimistic about a potential Alias reboot in recent comments.
What do we know about the Alias reboot?
Speaking to Access Hollywood in a recent interview, Garner was asked about her time on the classic spy action thriller series. The star talked fondly of her time and joked that she used to have trouble throwing convincing punches, but now has trouble kicking instead.
When it came to a potential reboot talk, Garner seemed totally open to the idea. However, she was quick to point the finger to J.J. Abrams, who created the show, as someone the fans should be looking to speak to when it comes to something like that.
“Nothing would make me happier, talk to Mr. Abrams,” joked Garner when asked about the possibility of reprising her role in a potential Alias reboot.
Originally premiering in 2001, Alias was a spy action thriller that followed the story of Sydney Bristow (Garner), a double agent for the CIA posing as an operative for SD-6, a worldwide criminal organization. The show saw Garner assuming multiple aliases to carry out missions, and was notable for its action, story, and Garner’s role as one of the strongest female characters in TV.
In total, Alias ran for five seasons and over 100 episodes before ending in 2006. Talks of a reboot have been happening for over a decade now, with ABC reportedly having been talking about one since at least 2010. However, it’s unclear whether or not Abrams or Garner themselves would ever return to the series.
