Adam Sandler‘s upcoming remake of a classic 2001 French drama has added several stars to its cast.
Who has joined Adam Sandler’s new Netflix movie?
According to a new report from Deadline, Sandler’s next movie, a remake of the 2001 French movie Time Out, has added several big stars to its cast. Willem Dafoe, Gaby Hoffmann, F. Murray Abraham, Steve Zahn, and Adam Horovitz have all joined onto the upcoming movie. Scott Cooper is attached to write, direct, and produce the movie.
The upcoming movie is a remake of the 2001 French movie from director Laurent Cantet, which tells the story of a man laid off from his job who pretends to go to work every day to avoid telling his family what happened.
Sandler will reportedly play the lead character in the movie. Previously, Dustin Hoffman had been rumored to portray Sandler’s father, although that role may now be going to Dafoe based on the casting.
“I first encountered Laurent Cantet’s film in 2001, and it’s lived with me ever since,” said Cooper on the film. “I’ve been thinking about revisiting it for years, but now felt like the right moment — we’re living in a time where questions of identity, work, and self-worth have become impossible to ignore.”
“When Vincent is fired from his job, he can’t bring himself to tell his wife and family. Rather than reveal the truth, he spins a web of lies to conceal his situation. He escalates his lies further when he creates an investment scheme and asks friends to contribute. His deception threatens to overwhelm his life and his family,” reads the film’s official synopsis.
In 2025, Sandler starred in two high-profile films, including a Happy Gilmore sequel for Netflix, as well as starring opposite George Clooney in the comedy-drama Jey Kelly, for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance.
