Amazon Prime Video has set the release date for its upcoming action-thriller movie featuring Pulp Fiction star Uma Thurman, Pretty Lethal. The streamer has also unveiled the first two photos from the film. Notably, the film is part of the 2026 South by Southwest Film & TV Festival’s film lineup.
The feature, originally titled Ballerina Overdrive, reportedly had Lena Headey, Yara Shahidi, and Isabela Merced attached to play starring roles. However, the trio later exited the film after the production start date was delayed from Q2 2023 to 2024. This resulted in Thurman, Maddie Ziegler, and Avantika joining the cast to replace them.
Pretty Lethal reveals Prime Video release date and photos
Amazon Prime Video announced that Pretty Lethal will drop on the streamer on March 25, 2026. It will first premiere at the South by Southwest festival 12 days earlier on March 13.
The story follows five ballerinas who share a strong rivalry and hardly speak with one another. While traveling to a prestigious dance competition, the bus they are on breaks down. Realizing they are out of options to get out of their predicament, they reluctantly take shelter at a roadside inn run by former ballet prodigy and recluse, Devora Kasimer (Uma Thurman).
The five immediately suspect there’s something eerie about the inn, and they’re soon proven right. Consequently, they run for their lives, utilizing their years of harsh yet disciplined training to increase their chances for survival.
The streamer shared two first-look photos from Pretty Lethal on social media. The first one shows the five ballerinas, looking bloodied, standing together in a manner that makes it seem as if they are preparing for an attack. Meanwhile, the second shows Thurman’s Kasimer doing her makeup while one of the ballerinas stares at her from a distance.
Vicky Jewson, known for her work on The Witcher spin-off prequel miniseries The Witcher: Blood Origin, directed the film from Kate Freund’s screenplay. Meanwhile, David Leitch, Kelly McCormick, Mike Karz, William Bindley, Piers Tempest, and Annie Marter produced the movie.
In addition to Thurman, Avantika, and Maddie Ziegler, Pretty Lethal stars Iris Apatow, Lana Condor, Millicent Simmonds, Michael Culkin, and Lydia Leonard.
