Jacob Chase reveals Insidious 6 update
Director Jacob Chase has shared a key update on Insidious 6, confirming that production on the next installment in the hit horror franchise has officially wrapped. Posting a photo of the film’s clapperboard on Instagram, Chase wrote, “That’s a wrap on the next chapter of INSIDIOUS. I’m wildly grateful to the cast, the crew, and for the dedication and care they put into every frame. See you in August.”
Sony Pictures Malaysia also confirmed the news on X (formerly Twitter). They stated, “Our newest INSIDIOUS movie has wrapped production! Haunting you exclusively in cinemas next year.” The post further fueled excitement among fans awaiting the next addition to the horror franchise.
The sixth Insidious movie was first announced in May 2024 and was initially scheduled for release on August 29, 2025. It was later taken off Sony’s release slate in December of the same year before being assigned a new release date of August 21, 2026 (via Nexus Point News).
Directed by Chase, who co-wrote the screenplay with David Leslie Johnson, the film stars Lin Shaye and Amelia Eve in lead roles. It is being produced by Jason Blum, Oren Peli, James Wan, and Leigh Whannell. Executive producers include Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Ryan Turek, Steven Schneider, and Johnson (via Deadline).
While the storyline has not yet been shared publicly, the movie continues the franchise that began in 2010. Over the years, it has become one of the most successful horror franchises, with 2023’s The Red Door earning the highest revenue in the series to date.
