Four Michael Bay-directed sci-fi films will soon be added to Peacock‘s library. These films are part of a live-action franchise based on Hasbro’s signature toys, and have collectively earned nearly $4 billion at the global box office.
Transformers 1, 2, 3, and 4 to stream on Peacock next month
Four Michael Bay films — Transformers, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and Transformers: Age of Extinction — will be available to stream on Peacock starting Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
The first three films centered on Sam Witwicky and his involvement in the battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons. It begins when Sam’s life takes a dramatic turn after his father buys him a yellow Camaro that turns out to be Bumblebee, an Autobot in disguise.
The fourth film takes place four years after the Battle of Chicago. As humanity turns against the Transformers, the alien robots go into hiding. The story follows Cade Yeager, a struggling inventor who discovers that his newly purchased truck is actually Optimus Prime, the leader of the Autobots. Cade, his daughter, and her boyfriend get pulled into a war that they never anticipated.
In a 2007 interview, producer Don Murphy said he originally wanted to make a film based on Hasbro’s G.I. Joe toys. However, due to the political environment at the time, a then-Hasbro Films executive suggested Transformers.
Subsequently, the first film hit theaters on July 3, 2007. While critics had a mixed reception, the audience was more favorable. It currently holds an average approval rating of 57% from critics and 85% from the audience on Rotten Tomatoes. It is also the highest-rated of the Michel Bay-directed Transformers films. The sequels received a mixed-to-negative reception from critics and audiences alike.
Regardless of the films’ critical status, they were extremely successful during their respective theatrical runs. Transformers: Dark of the Moon became the highest-grossing film in the franchise, earning over $1.1 billion globally (via Box Office Mojo).
The entire franchise, comprising seven live-action films, has grossed $5.2 billion. The series also includes an animated film, Transformers One, which made just over $129 million, despite receiving overwhelmingly positive reviews.
