One of 2025’s most talked-about animated films is about to exit Netflix, leaving fans a limited time to stream it before it moves on. This sci-fi-inspired family movie has captured hearts with its emotional storytelling, top-tier voice cast, and rare critical acclaim, but its stay on the streaming giant won’t last much longer.

The Wild Robot is leaving Netflix in March

The Wild Robot is departing Netflix on March 26, 2026 (via What’s on Netflix). Sitting with a sky-high 97% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the film has scored both critical and box-office heat since its release.

Directed by Chris Sanders and inspired by Peter Brown’s bestselling novel, the story centers on Roz, a robot forced to adapt to life on a remote island where she ends up protecting orphaned animals.

Chris Sanders is a well-known name in the animation world, best remembered for beloved classics like Lilo & Stitch, The Croods, How to Train Your Dragon, and several other fan-favorite films.

Heart, survival, and unexpected bonds drive the plot, and it clearly clicked with viewers. Made on a budget of $78 million, the movie pulled in around $334 million worldwide, thanks to its emotional storytelling and stunning visuals.

The film mixes adventure, family-friendly themes, and sci-fi touches, thus appealing to all age groups. Moreover, the movie features powerful voice performances from Lupita Nyong’o and Pedro Pascal.

Netflix picked up The Wild Robot through a standard pay-1 streaming deal, which basically means the movie shuffles between platforms on a set schedule. After it exhausted its run on Peacock, the animated hit arrived on Netflix in May 2025. However, its Netflix run wraps up this March, after which it’s heading back to Peacock once again.

This kind of platform shuffle is pretty normal for big animated releases. Studios lock in time-based streaming rights, so films rotate depending on those contracts.
