During a press presentation on Thursday, Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO of HBO and HBO Max Content, announced the renewal of three TV shows for their second seasons.
What HBO Max TV shows were renewed?
Bloys announced that Task, The Chair Company, and I Love LA have been renewed for second seasons.
Created by Brad Ingelsby, Task starred Mark Ruffalo as Tom Brandis, an FBI agent who spearheads a Philadelphia-based task force in an effort to end a string of violent robberies led by an unsuspecting family man, played by Tom Pelphrey.
Ruffalo will return for Season 2.
Besides Ruffalo and Pelphrey, Season 1 starred Emilia Jones, Jamie McShane, Sam Keeley, Thuso Mbedu, Fabien Frankel, Alison Oliver, Raúl Castillo, Silvia Dionicio, Phoebe Fox, and Martha Plimpton.
Task’s seven-episode first season debuted to critical acclaim and became one of HBO’s top three fastest-growing debut seasons. All episodes are available to stream on HBO Max.
The Chair Company is created by Tim Robinson and Zach Kanin, the creators behind the sketch comedy series I Think You Should Leave. The Chair Company follows William Ronald Trosper (Robinson), a man who, after an embarrassing incident at work, finds himself investigating a far-reaching conspiracy.
The Chair Company Season 1 stars Lake Bell as Barb Trosper, Sophia Lillis as Natalie Trosper, Will Price as Seth Trosper, and Joseph Tudisco as Mike Santini.
The Chair Company Season 1 has a perfect 100 Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes. It continues to pace as HBO’s top freshman comedy in platform history, with an average of 3.3 million viewers across all U.S. platforms. The seventh episode of the debut season airs on November 23, 2025.
Rachel Sennott is the star, creator, and executive producer of I Love LA. The comedy follows an ambitious friend group navigating life and love in LA. The ensemble includes Rachel Sennott as Maia, Jordan Firstman as Charlie, Josh Hutcherson as Dylan, Odessa A’zion as Tallulah, and True Whitaker as Alani.
I Love LA has also been praised by critics, with an 84% on Rotten Tomatoes. The comedy is pacing as the second top freshman comedy in platform history, with an average of 2 million viewers across all U.S. platforms.
The fourth episode of I Love LA will air on November 23, 2025.
